Like many other bands, German death metallers OBSCURA rely on modern technology to write and exchange their music before going into the studio. Guitarist Christian Muenzner (ex-NECROPHAGIST) is not a newcomer when it comes to this way of working. "I think today a lot of bands work like this, but we did it already in 2003 with NECROPHAGIST," he tells FaceCulture.

Watch the video below of Christian Muenzner explaining how he wrote the song "Universe Momentum" for the new OBSCURA album "Cosmogenesis".

"Cosmogenesis", the second full-length CD from OBSCURA, sold around 900 copies in the United States in its first week of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The CD debuted at No. 71 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

"Cosmogenesis" was released in the U.S. on February 17 via Relapse Records (March 2 internationally). The CD features guest appearances from Ron Jarzombek (WATCHTOWER, SPASTIC INK, BLOTTED SCIENCE) and Tymon Kruidenier (CYNIC, EXIVIOUS).
