![]() The intricacies and tediousness of writing and playing original, technical music can be strenuous beyond the average rock or metal band. It is not uncommon to see tech metal bands dissolve. Bands like Bodies in the Gears, Machinist, and Lethargy have graced us with their unforgettable music but have sadly moved on. Just as New Jersey's Amorphic Form got their ball rolling they have decided to call it quits as well. The Apparatus would like to take this time to reflect on Amorphic Form and their 'One Extreme to the other' take on music. Contents: Here's the updated biography on the band: AMORPHIC FORM emerged from the South Jersey area with the intent to create intense, yet versatile music. A band they always wanted to hear but could never find. Coming from a diverse background of death metal, hardcore, rock, psychedelic, and progressive fusion, Amorphic Form incorporates these influences to achieve a unique sound that sets them apart from the rest. After playing many shows and establishing themselves as a force in the scene they are currently hard at work putting the finishing touches on their debut album. After the album is unleashed they plan to do extensive touring to support the release while continuing to write a follow up that will crush all expectations. In 2006 Amorphic Form self released their first and only 3 song demo. Here are the 3 songs off the that demo and excerpts from various review sites. "Psychological Warfare" Check out all of the Amorphic Form on Myspace to follow up on the disbandment and new musical endeavors. Also check out Jake Iannacco's solo project."Circuit of Molecules" "Dwelling Sadness" I picked this free promo disc up @ a local show in Philly. These guys play a great mixture of Death metal & Grindcore music. There are some really inticate & technical sounding work mixed in with all the heavy mayhem & brutality. There are some all out spastic Grindcore parst The first thing that came into my mind when listening to this promising young act is this: these guys listen to tech metal first and death metal second. So many things pushed the right selectors in my brain during this brief eight-minute session. There are only three tracks, two of them full songs, but they really do make an impact. Canada's Martyr is the band I think of when listening to AF. The full songs we are given pay equal respects to old-school death metal and new, strange avant-garde metal. The final track is about a minute and a half and features keyboard sounds (from guitar pedals) and clean singing...but it works. Jake Innanaco can actually sing. It's not cheesy like your average metalcore act. The singing has a purpose to add to this pleasing concoction. The first five seconds of the first song I heard, Circuit of Molecules, I knew this was going to be like nothing I have been Reviewing all day. Amazing sounding. Drums are fucking awesome. I thought I had to be listening to a drum machine, but I checked, and double checked, a person is listed on their site as the drummer. Unless they named their drum machine, but I doubt it. Anyway, I would say as fast as Nick Barker, Charlie Benante, and any other fast drummer times 149. Vocals have a couple different styles/ranges, lots of yelling, lots of death metal vocals. Hardcore, death metal and punk mixed into one. It will be a matter of time before Relapse or some other label picks them up. More photos can be found on the band's Myspace.
