The Apparatus

Having fun, offering jokes and providing a light mood is encouraged. This is not a big, spooky board. It's a place to discuss music - preferably of technical and/or progressive nature - and other observations about the ridiculous world we inhabit. However, there are those that want to either get attention or seem cool to their friends in order to compensate for their complete lack of actual social skills. These people have caused these rules to come into play.

We have a much bigger, more musically-diverse community now than we ever had in the past, and we thank you for that. We would not be the quality as we currently are without constant support from our users. That comes with a double-edged sword. There are more kinds of people visiting the board, which is a great thing. Unfortunately, some people enjoy starting flame wars, and that kind of behavior will not apply here. There are plenty of other forums that allow such acts.

The bottom line is this: be yourself and have fun, but watch your attitude and actually contribute something positive. We are all adults here and we all love metal, so that gives nobody a reason to shamelessly dog someone else or a band that not everyone likes.

These policies are expected to be followed by both forum staff and regular users and are expected to be effective immediately:

1. All discussions will remain polite and courteous. There will be no personal attacks, name-calling or other immature actions. Animosity towards another user because of his or her opinions and lifestyle will be dealt with by forum staff.

2. If you have a strong reaction to something, make sure your response accurately and professionally; in other words, convey your feelings without offending either another user or a band.

3. All talk about bands and users will remain as objective as possible. We have a large user base that does not get involved in forum discussions. You never know who may be reading.

4. Explain what you mean. Do not solely offer that a band is 'gay' and offer no reasonable thought process to back it up. Your post will be deleted.

5. Off-color remarks and images about gender, race and sexuality are not permitted.

Failure to comply with these rules will result in:

First offense: Public warning.

Second offense: One private PM about parameters breached.

Third offense: Ban.

For everyone:

these rules are more like guidelines for any trolls that may come here in the future. the rules need to be in place just in case; they aren't directed towards anyone. there is always potential for a flame war, and these help protect against any actions we hopefully won't ever have to do.

when it doubt: post anyway. be yourself. we'll let you know if you step over the line when the time comes. just pretend these rules have always been here.
