I've been listening to this cd a lot lately. And I was looking forward to seeing this band in a few weeks. I am depressed.

Apparently Brain Drill has reformed... http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=48012392&blogID=375482773BRAIN DRILL update:
Northern CA technical death metal outfit Brain Drill will be carrying on despite all the recent rumors of break ups. The band is currently looking for a new drummer and more information will be made available shortly for those interested in trying out for the spot in one of the most talked about technical death metal bands of 2008. They lost Lord Marco and thier bassist too I think. I figured they would reform, but I think they lost a lot of respect and they definately won't be the same now.

I haven't listened to too much Brain Drill, so please excuse my ignorance here, but my take was that their drummer was the main selling point of the band. They all sound like more than competent musicians, so I could be totally off here, but are you all (i.e. steady fans of the band) still going to be interested with a new face behind the throne? Just curious to hear a fan's perspective.

I found Marco's drumming to be unnecessary and tedious anyway.

Ah, interesting! Did you feel he was simply blasting too often, or utilizing speed over technique? And, if you don't mind me asking, what then was your main attraction to Brain Drill?

I really don't listen to Brain Drill very often but to me it was just fun, fast death metal.
As for the drumming, it was simply to monotonous for me, I don't care how fast your blast beats are, if that's all you do, I'm going to get bored and fast. There seemed to be a lack of variation with the drumming, well with all of Brain Drill's music. Don't get me wrong, I like them, but I can't listen to a whole BD album at once.

To me the main selling point of the band wasnt the drummer, it was just everyone playing really fast. He was good, but their drummer wasnt like insanley phenomonal or anything.
