Interview with Ryan Wilson from IxDx

The band has been around since 1996! This year is your 10th anniversary, congrats!

Since this is your 10th anniversary, lets reflect on the past. What was Intestinal Disgorges first show like? What kind of reaction did you get?

We usually try to block out those humiliating memories. However, for the sake of novelty, and at the peril of my own well-being, I'll go ahead and think about it. I remember, this must have been in 1998 or so, while we are still in high school. We played in the back room of a local club, because we weren't good enough for the slightly larger but equally shitty "main stage" or "main room." Anyway, believe it or not, we actually packed in about 80 people that night, all cramped in to that small room. I know what you're thinking: 80 people? That's a lot for Intestinal Disgorge. Well, here's the catch. They all went to high school with us, pretty much, and had never heard us before. Needless to say, we never played a show that packed again. For what it was worth, though, we had a funny reaction. People didn't know what to think really. The bitch screams were especially hard to swallow for the crowd.

Did you still get the same reaction from people 10 years later?

Well, we haven't played a live show since probably 1999 or 2000. I'm sure the reaction would be quite similar, because even though times change, people stay the same.

What happened with the band in 2002? And why so many line up changes throughout the years?

In 2002, we "split up" because Pissy and I didn't really think we were going to record any more albums. At the time, there was a lot of different shit happening, non-musically, like college and all that jazz. So, like any good musicians, we decided to give up and try to do something that actually generated income. A few months later, we just got together and decided to start shit up again. It's just something in you, I guess. Even though I was in Austin at the time, we still got shit rolling. We had a few line-up shifts because we were just toying with the sound, trying some new ideas. Eventually, we didn't like the new ideas, and we pretty much settled back into our usual pattern and line up.

Most bands cant stay together a year, 2 at most. How long do you think Intestinal Disgorge will keep going?

I think we'll probably be doing this for another 10 years, just because it's not very labor-intensive. Pissy and I are kinda the "core" of the band, and all through the years, we never really practiced or wrote songs or did anything. And we don't play shows, mainly because they are pointless and a waste of time and money. So, we just come together and put shit together for an album whenever the time is right.

How do you feel about modern Grindcore fusing together electronic elements? Besides the normal use of drum machines in Grind, Im talking about Keyboards and Synthesizers. Bands like The Locust and A Beautiful Lotus

I think keyboards and synths can make a great addition to certain styles of grind. I mean, if it sounds good, roll with it. But you can't look at the whole basket of apples, it boils down to individual bands. Some bands do great things with electronics, and other bands just suck anyway, so who cares?

When you play a show and theres a bunch of lanky boys with girl pants and eye liner on. In the middle of set, the crowd spreads out and it starts to look like a Bruce Lee flick (spin kicks and air punching), what do you do?

Thankfully, we don't play shows, so we don't have to worry about it. As for the whole faggoty hair cuts and gay pants and all that shit, I just don't care. The only reason that the gay clothes and the gay "dancing" ever started was because girls started listening to grind all of a sudden. I don't know why. I guess some grind band came out that actually had attractive looking guys in it, so of course, the girls lined up to fuck and suck them. And when other kids saw all the girls sucking grind cocks, they wanted the pussy too, so they started getting skinny and dressing like complete homosexuals. It's the same thing as glam rock in the 80s. Guys started dressing like bitches, because for some reason, bitches thought that bitch-looking guys was hot. Everything in this world revolves around cock and pussy.

When I first heard you guys, it was a burned copy of A Clockwork Whore Binge. I always wondered have you guys considered "playing" a chainsaw live or some other kind of crazy antics?

First of all, thanks for not buying the album (just kidding). No, actually, we've used a lot of shit in the recordings that would be great live, like leaf blowers, vacuum cleaners, and chainsaws. However, because we don't play live, it's not an issue.

How did starting Pray for Death Productions come about and who are all the artists on it?

Basically, me and Jacob (a new addition to the IxDx family on vocals) wanted to put out IxDx releases whenever we wanted and however we wanted. We never had problems with labels, it was just something we wanted to do. The only artist right is IxDx, but we've been looking around, talking, rubbing elbows, all that. We just want to find bands with something new to offer. Even if it sucks, I just want to hear something new. I'm tired of all the same old garbage.

You seem to have quiet a few releases coming out all around the same time. Who are doing splits with? What are your official release dates? And whats with the tape releases this day and age?

Yeah we're kinda busy this year. We have our first Pray For Death Productions release, the new Intestinal Disgorge MCD "Humiliated" coming out November 14. Then, we have a split tape with Twodeadsluts Onegoodfuck which they will be selling on tour later this month. That tape is going to be one of the weirdest and best releases ever. We also have a split 7" coming out with Lincoln Love Log on Goatgrind Records, a 4-way split on Fart Out The Cum Productions, a 19-way split on Leprous Schoolgirl, and probably something else that I don't remember. We've just been pumpin out new shit lately at a rapid pace, and we're always anxious to get it out to the very few fans we have.

Any plans to tour or play any fests at all before the year ends?

Nope. Can't afford it.

What are some of your favorite horror movies and serial killers?

My favorite horror flick of all time is still Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer. It has a special place in my heart. And of course, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and I Spit On Your Grave. As for serial killers, you just gotta love Ed Kemper and Richard Kuklinski.

What are your true thoughts on Women in Society?

Bitches ain't shit but hoes and tricks.

What are your true thoughts on Homosexuality and gays in society?

Gay people made stereotypes fun and safe again. I have to give them credit for that. Other than that, I don't give a fuck. I ignore everyone anyway.

Anything I missed?

Yeah, let me give a shout out to my homies in the PFD crew, all the thugs reppin' still in the 210, and everyone who understands what it is we're trying to do. Thanks for the interview. Sorry I couldn't give you more controversial answers, I'm sure we'll lose 2 or 3 hardline fag-hating and woman-beating fans. But maybe we'll balance out by getting 2 or 3 homosexual fans or radical feminist lesbians. It doesn't really matter. They can all go to hell.
