The above review quotes the inside introduction to the album. Upon reading this, it instills a vague image in the listeners mind of what is soon to come. Then, for 57 minutes, that vague image becomes a vivid of what is known as "The Machinations of Dementia." Each song is another piece that formulates into a mental image based on a personal interpretation of the instrumental death metal blitzkrieg that enters the auditory receptors. Keep an eye on Blotted Science, they are the fathers of what will become a new direction into the progressive and techincal: a world where lyrics are obsolete and the instruments are what speaks to the listerner in a voice not made of words but sounds that paint the picture ultimately left to the fans to add detail.

In a world of music without meaning or direction, Behold...the Arctopus shines through the cess pool of nothingness with its instrumental storytelling and technical genious. Behold...the Arctopus (along with other great progressives such as Blotted Science) pave the way for a new found respect for the instrumental by reminding us what it means to have the instruments tell the story. No lyrics are needed here, only the imagination of the listener and the emotion of the band itself. Fully experimental, authenticly creative, brutaly insane, "Skullgrid" is a must have for the technical and progressive lovers. This is the future direction of progressive music.
Don't believe me? Go burn one, sit back, and experience the journey.

I give it album of the year. These guys really pave the way for the incorperation of numerous styles of music. Clearly a collaborate effort of all five members, this album takes the progressive grindcore genre to a new angle. Perhaps not nearly as chaotic as PsyOpus or Behold...the Archtopus, but I'm not such a fan of that. I look for a more wholesome experience to music, Colors tells a vivid story. Go and buy this. For those who enjoy a wide variety of genres to be blended together, this album is worth every penny.

Extremely techincal and completely chaotic. The first time I heard this album I had to take break after three songs because I was overwhelmed. I never would have thought to even attempt some ofthe guitar work on this album, let alone go that fast and clean without a pick. I give them credit for their off-the-wall grindcore, but ultimatly I consider this pure noise. I have it on my iPod if I'm ever in the mood for something that reminds me of a cocaine addict being attact my metal spiders. Check it out, it's worth the experience of listening to (possibly under certain influences may enhance your experience), but it's not something I would go and buy.
